Before Kate Winslet worked with Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1997 movie Titanic, she was nervous to act alongside the handsome hunk, and rightly so. "I was like probably how all the women in this audience are, about Leonardo DiCaprio," the actress told Oprah Winfrey in 1998 (via Harper's BAZAAR).
"Initially, I thought, 'Ugh, how am I gonna work with this beautiful man who's such a brilliant actor?'" she continued. "And I met him and he's honestly so lovely and down-to-earth and normal and so good at what he does."
In a 2004 interview with Winfrey, the television host played Winslet's confession for DiCaprio, in which he replied, "That's my girl." Luckily, it seems like Winslet was able to put her fears behind her, and the two became close pals. "I feel the same way about her," he gushed. "If it wasn't for her making that film, we would have been shrapnel at this point. It was just the toughest film we ever had to make and we were partners together."
To this day, Winslet will never forget how DiCaprio has impacted her life. "I walked away [from Titanic] with one of the greatest friendships of my life in my back pocket, which is Leo," she said in 2017, per Entertainment Weekly. "We know each other in a very unique way, I think, because of the experience we both had on that film and having to take care of one another."
